John Deberry, a Durham businessman, civic leader, and humanitarian, founded Blo-Glo Inc. with a clear mission, to create safe, non-chemical skincare and haircare alternatives inspired by the ancient healing power of herbs.
His journey began when his wife, who lives with Lupus, struggled with skin irritation and sensitivity. In his search for a natural remedy, Deberry discovered burdock root, a plant known since ancient Egyptian times for its medicinal and skin-healing properties. Within six months of formulating his first burdock soap, her skin showed remarkable improvement.
Seeing its transformative results, he expanded the product line to include a full suite of natural burdock-based skincare and haircare products that address conditions such as eczema, dandruff, and dry or inflamed skin, clearing dandruff in as little as two weeks and soothing rashes within three. The company name, Blo-Glo, pays tribute to the "bubbling personalities" of John's late brother and sister, whose nicknames inspired the brand's identity, representing life, joy, and resilience.
